On 18 March 2023 at 8 am, my dad and I went for a hike. We started the hike from Yio Chu Kang Road Bus stop number: B35 to Upper Peirce Reservoir. The hike took us 11km and 2h 40m to complete.
The weather was cool in the morning and it got hotter as the day went by. Along the way, we discovered many companies that reside in our neighbourhood along Yio Chu Kang Road. Example, Apple, S T Engineering and NCS.
When we walked up to Upper Peirce Reservoir, the water in the reservoir glistened against the fluorescent sun. The scenery there was beautiful and I am amazed that we have such a big water catchment area. The reservoir was surrounded by tall and luscious trees with different species of plants. The place was quiet and peaceful.
As we continued our hike, we saw monkeys, snakes and different species of birds. We also walked passed a live firing range and we heard many gunshots. (see photo below)
After walking for 11km, my legs were aching and I was thirsty. We then stopped by a coffee shop to rest our legs and ordered some drinks to quench our thirst.
This hike was a new challenge for me as I have never walked 11km without a break.
